In the 17th century, the Dutch East India Company brought Chinese blue-and-white porcelain to Europe; Delft potters imitated it and developed a distinct local style. Delft Blue depicts windmills, tulips, and maritime scenes in serene cobalt.

Dutch Orange is the Netherlands' most visible national color, from King's Day to football fans' shirts. It comes from William I, Prince of Orange, who led Dutch independence in the 16th century. On King's Day, Amsterdam streets flood with orange.
